FYI: the Node-RED community includes pre-built configurations — saved me so much trial and error.
ZigbeeExplorer: Honestly, I'd go with OpenHAB over Smartthings for your case. Keep in mind the tradeoff.

Totally agree — I had the exact problem and solved it by updating the driver. Took me longer than expected that configuration option.
